Charleston, WV – West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt voiced his full support for Governor Justice’s plan to exempt military retirement from the state income tax. Under this plan, military families would receive a $3.1 million tax break.
"I completely support the Governor’s plan to exempt military pensions from the income tax. Our veterans have earned their retirement money and should not owe a single penny to the state of West Virginia,’ said Commissioner Leonhardt. "As a veteran, this exemption can help attract new potential farmers to our state, just as it did for me thirty plus years ago when I transitioned from the military to civilian life."
